Moving Day Is Almost Here

Since hubby accepted a new position in Colorado back in February we have been a family in transition. This process has felt like an emotional roller coaster and frankly I am ready to get off the coaster. When we moved out to Maryland from Colorado in March 2009 we went through a lot of the same process but it was compressed into about a month. Not sure if it was better or worse that way but it is like ripping off a bandage, it is painful but it was over with quickly. This has been long and drawn out.

In 2009, my kids changed schools at the last quarter of the year and it was really hard. The public schools are so different here in Maryland and transitioning during the last quarter of the year was really hard. When they started fresh in the fall of 2009 they did much better and this mama breathed a sigh of relief. When hubby's new job came to fruition at the same time of year I knew I couldn't do another mid-year move with my kids again. To top it off, we had a lease on our current house through June 2011, and my nanny job was ending at the end of this school year in mid-June.

So we began the process of hubby starting a new job, moving across the country, buying our first house, and living apart for 16 long weeks. In the end the timing has worked out perfectly. Hubby thought he could house shop without me but after seeing 2 houses he knew I had to make a trip. The soonest I could come out to Colorado and arrange child care for the kids was spring break. After several long days of looking we found our perfect house. Not the house we thought we'd buy but the perfect one for us. Hubby's a veteran and our VA needed 60 days to close putting our closing on our house on our kids last day of school and my last day of work, a coincidence, I think not. We paid the rent on our leased house through the end of the month but we are only leaving a week early and our first mortgage payment isn't due until August 1st.

Everything worked out as it should have in the end but man what a process! I can't wait to hold my hubby in my arms again, sleep next to him in bed, and just have him to keep me company during the drudgery of day-to-day life, not to mention I have been living as a single mom to three kids these past 16 weeks. Nate truly is my best friend and I have missed him incredibly.

I am sad to say goodbye to all our great friends in Maryland but I am beyond excited to begin this new chapter in our lives. This chapter remains to be written but I think it will be filled with more stability and financial security, lots of time with family and friends, lots of long term goals being reached, and lots of happiness. Hubby and I have both worked very hard our entire adult lives (and before) to get where we are today. The path we took wasn't always the easy one and there were many bumps along the road. As we continue along on this journey called life I am so thankful for all the blessings God has put in our lives and I can't wait to see what is next.
