Not Me! Monday

I am joining in with MckMama over at My Charming Kids this Monday admitting to what we did NOT do this week.

1) I did NOT secretly hope both girls soccer games would get rained out Saturday. There was NOT an 80% chance of rain. It did not rain out the games but just made the inside of our house miserably humid. I am NOT a bad soccer mom but was hosting a Halloween party for 25 of my closest Maryland friends and had a lot to get done.

2) I did NOT want my Halloween party to be a cutesy and themed and NOT really ask anyone to bring anything even after they offered. This would be a ridiculous idea since after soccer and cleaning this mommy of three had plenty of time to make all sort of dishes from scratch.

3) Due to #2 hubby did NOT end up making almost all my cutesy recipes for the party and I ended up scraping two of the recipes at the last moment.

4) I did NOT spend a chunk of the party holding our neighbor's baby who is 1 day younger than the twins I watch. You would think 36 hours per week shoved into 9 hour days would be plenty of baby holding for me. Of course not, as hubby said "She loves babies."

5) At the end of the party I did NOT feel a little sentimental. Hosting a party and playing Cranium made Maryland feel a bit more like home, which is a good feeling. I still don't have any girlfriends I can just call to go to coffee or see a movie. Hubby does work with a great group of people who have awesome significant others and we have some great neighbors. I just have to continue to extend the invitation to some of these people and I know the relationships will continue to grow.

6) Feeling sentimental did NOT at the same time make me miss my Colorado girlfriends and their husbands and all our fun and crazy times, some of which involved drinking beer and playing Cranium.

So what have you NOT been doing this week?

Not Me! Monday

MckMama is back with Not Me! Monday so I thought I would join her in admitting to some of the ridiculous stuff I did NOT do this week.

1. I did NOT let my kids play outside for hours with minimal supervision. Of course NOT that would be dangerous. When I ceased to hear the giggles and squeals of the 10 or so neighbor kids outside it took me 30 minutes or so to finally confirm my three were inside the neighbors house. NOT me! I am never a laid back parent.

2. Later that day, all 10 neighbor kids ended up in my house and mysteriously no one knew where B was. I figured he was not really lost since he was the oldest of the bunch. I was NOT surprised that he was still upstairs at said neighbors house watching TV even though all the other kids were now at our house. B is completely NOT into TV and would never zone out enough to not even realize he was the only kid left at a house that was not his. No! Never!

3. I did NOT thank the Lord that soccer was cancelled this week. Playing in the soaking wet fields would have been tons of fun.

4. I did NOT sleep in until 10am Saturday morning due to the blessing described above in #3. Hubby was NOT trying so hard to keep the kids quiet that he actually was the one who woke me up. That would be ridiculous! Love you hubby!

5. Even though this is my last week before I start my new job I am NOT very excited to start. I get to play with 10 week old twins 9 hours per day 4 days per week with all school holidays and vacations paid. Can you say best of both worlds? Time with my kids and making money!

6. I am NOT excited to paint our bedroom this week. We have been in this house for 6 months now and there is not a single thing on my bedroom walls due to our desire to paint but not following through.

7. I was NOT surprised when I choose paint colors that the main color I wanted on the walls was only a shade lighter than they already are. Since I am cheap I decided only to re-paint the trim that is currently forest green. I will post before and after pictures on my blog so you can all be amazed at my decorating talent.

8. I have NOT put off correcting my kids summer workbooks until the absolute last moment. That would be silly. They are only summer workbooks AKA a mother of three's torture device. The PTA mom collecting completed workbooks for prizes did NOT tell me she doesn't care if they are correct just done. Doesn't that defeat the purpose?

9. I did NOT set a goal of making it to the gym 3 times last week only to make it twice. I am NOT happy that I made it at all. Today I am going to start week two and set another goal of 3 gym trips. Wish me luck.

1) I did NOT realize that while the past two weeks my kids had "cleaned" their bathroom that I needed to "clean" it and it was disgusting. I love the fact that my kids are old enough to help with chores around the house but their idea of clean and mine are two very different things.

2) I did NOT take my kids to Chuck E Cheese's for dinner and play time and then to Chick-fil-A for ice cream on the same evening. Of course NOT! That would be overindulgence and we loved every minute of it.

3) I did NOT spend 3 1/2 hours in Barnes and Noble with my kids last week. Whose kids would enjoy looking at books that long (mine)!

4) I did NOT finish two James Patterson novels this week. I do NOT have time to read so that would be impossible.

5) I do NOT have dishes and laundry to do. Of course not! I am always caught up on my household chores.

6) I did NOT spend hours watching "A Baby Story" and browsing through Baby Center this week. That would be ridiculous since we are not having another baby for at least 2 or 3 more years and hubby would be OK if I decided I did not want a baby. Is this the baby itch that some women talk about? I have had a mild case of it for some time but now that Nate and I are married and getting settled it has gone into overdrive. Hopefully those twin baby girls I am going to be nannying for in September will be able to put my baby itch on the back burner.

Not Me! Monday

1. I did NOT get up early and go to my first pilates class Friday morning at 6:30am and felt great because of it. Not Me! I hate getting up early ;-)

2. I did NOT start feeling sick around bedtime Friday. I was surprised that I was sick considering the 16 month old I nanny for was sick last week and 16 months olds NEVER spread germs!

3. My 6 year old did NOT say this morning "I hope my cup doesn't fall off the pile of dishes in the sink." Of course NOT! I NEVER have both sides of the sink full of dishes! It is amazing to me that 5 people can fill up both sides of the sink in about 36 hours. Crazy!

4. I do NOT have a mountain of peed on laundry in my laundry room from last night. Something like 1/4 of all kids wet the bed but 2/3 of my kids do. I guess we are above average. Now you see why I can't keep up with the laundry either.

5. I did NOT bail on my 3rd graders "Fun Day" that I said I would come to. That would be bad! Since this is the first day I am starting to feel better but not well yet standing in the sun and heat for 3 hours would not be good. Good thing he only kind of wanted me to come in the first place. Oh no! He is 9 and I think I am beginning to be "uncool" to him.

6. I have NOT sat on the computer for the last 2 hours doing the Grocery Game and blogging, in my pajamas when I have bunches to do. Not Me! I am very motivated!

Not Me! Monday

1. I am NOT sitting here in the same pajamas I was wearing all day yesterday. That would be ridiculous. It does not matter that yesterday was Mother's Day and I have sick kids.

2. I was NOT disappointed that Wyn was sick yesterday so we had to skip the beach. Of course not since the beach will be here all summer.

3. I am NOT missing my family and friends in Colorado and California right now and really wishing I could hop on a plane and give some of those special people a big hug. Stupid budgets, and finances and responsibilities!

4. I am NOT happy that my house is spotless and we are beginning to win the war on the ants. I LOVE when clutter takes over my house!

5. I am NOT getting frustrated with my job hunt. Of course NOT! We are in the middle of a huge recession. I did NOT expect this to be difficult.

6. I am NOT in a mission to apply for 10 jobs today. That would be a BIG goal.

Not Me! Monday

Glad MckMama is back at home and participating in Not Me! Monday so in honor of this here is what I did not do this week...



I did NOT spend hours on the computer when I had loads of stuff to do (you know dishes, laundry, the regular stuff).



I did NOT score an awesome couch and loveseat from Craigslist for $100.



I did NOT move the furniture around in my living room 5 times trying to figure out the best layout. That would've been a huge pain!



I did NOT curse the rain today when loading my trunk full of groceries in the pouring rain while trying to hold an umbrella (us Colorado girls are not used to rain. Rain is something you run through real quick, not something you need an umbrella for day after day).



I did NOT walk 4 miles in said rain yesterday. That would be crazy unless of course it was for the March for Babies then that would completely not be crazy.



I did NOT almost cry when I thought how proud I was of B for out fundraising me and sticking with it to the end of our very wet 4 mile walk.



I did NOT feast on Cheesecake Factory cheesecake at B's birthday dinner and not even think about how many delicious calories I was consuming.



I did NOT think the public reaction to the swine flu was ridiculous. I am completely sensitive to pain-stricken people and the fear-mongering of the media.
