It still amazes me that within some of our lifetimes and most certainly our parents lifetimes racial segregation still occurred in America. 45 years after the passage of The Civil Rights Act an African American was sworn in today as the 44th President of the United States of America. This was certainly a day for the history books. The fact that this was possible makes me proud to be an American. I am looking forward to some of the "change" coming our way.
I will note that my husband (the Libertarian, former Republican) sent me a text message at 12:30 P.M. today that read "Obama has been president for over 2 hours and I'm still poor and uninsured, change my ass." Hilarious I know but I think his expectations are a little too high. I will settle for change over the next 4 years.

I've been singing "It's a New Day" - all day today, my 3 year old has finally caught on. What an exciting day to be an American, I just wish people here in the south weren't so hateful and close minded!!
